SAN ANTONIO – Center Briana Day of the Syracuse women's basketball team has signed a training camp contract with the WNBA's San Antonio Stars, as announced on Monday afternoon. Day is set to become the 12th player in program history to participate in a WNBA training camp.
"I want to take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way," stated Day. "I am excited to start my professional basketball career with the San Antonio Stars."
Day is the all-time leading rebounder in Orange women's basketball history, pulling down 1,124 boards in her collegiate career. She also is the only Syracuse player to notch at least 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in their time on campus. A public health major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, Day ranks 13th in Atlantic Coast Conference history in career boards.
The Raleigh, N.C. native joins the program's all-time leading scorer Kayla Alexander '13 in training camp in San Antonio. Guards Brittney Sykes and Alexis Peterson are headed to Atlanta and Seattle, respectively, after being selected in the 2017 WNBA Draft, as well.
