Sykes logs first career double-double in OT thriller
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Center Kayla Alexander '13 and guards Alexis Peterson and Brittney Sykes, the top three scorers in the history of the Syracuse women's basketball program, are all in action as the 2017 WNBA season is underway.
Here is the latest update of how the three former Orange are faring:
Kayla Alexander, San Antonio Stars
- Currently averaging 5.1 points, 2.5 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in 22 contests played
- Paces San Antonio in field goal percentage (54.3 percent) and sits in second for blocked shots (0.5/game)
- Went 3-for-3 from the field and sunk a pair of free throws for eight points while nabbing three rebounds against Indiana on July 20
- Notched four points and three rebounds against Washington on July 25
Alexis Peterson, Seattle Storm
- Tallying 1.7 points, 1.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.2 steals per contest in nine games
Brittney Sykes, Atlanta Dream
- Averaging 12.1 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.6 blocked shots per game in 21 contests played
- Ranks second among league rookies in scoring and rebounding, and third among rookies in blocked shots
- Logged a career-high 27 points and a career-high five assists while shooting 7-for-13 from the field and sinking 12 free throws at Washington on July 19
- Recorded her first career double-double, pulling in 13 rebounds and posting 20 points in an OT win against Phoenix on July 25
