'Cuse travels to Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invite on Friday

The Syracuse cross country teams will travel to Penn State on Friday to compete in the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational. The women's meet will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the men will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Last Time Out

Both teams got off to strong starts to begin the 2018 campaign by sweeping the Harry Lang Invitational at Colgate.
Nathan Henderson and Abigail Spiers won the men's and women's races, respectively.
The women's team swept the top-nine spots in the race, while the men's team swept the top-three spots.

The 2017 Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational

The men have won this event the past two years, while the women are coming off of a third-place finish. The teams will compete in the event for the fifth-straight season.
Aidan Tooker and Paige Stoner led the way for the Orange last season at this event, both finishing second. Their performances set the way for All-America seasons for both, Stoner was a three-time All-American while Tooker earned the honor in outdoor track.
Kevin James, Joe Dragon and Dominic Hockenbury also finished in the top-8 last season, while Julien Webster and Shannon Malone finished ninth and 13^th in the race.
The meet will be contested on the Penn State Golf Course. The men will compete on an 8K course, while the women will run a 6K.

Ranking the Orange

The men hold the highest ranking in the ACC, coming in at No. 10 in the latest USTFCCCA poll.
This is the sixth-straight year the men have opened the year in the top-10 in this poll.
The women's team is ranked 22^nd in poll, making 'Cuse the only ACC program with both teams ranked in the top 25.
In the ACC, the men were voted the preseason favorites to win the ACC in the coaches poll, while the women came in at number five.

Eovaldi Earns ACC Freshman Honors

Joey Eovaldi was named ACC Freshman of the Week – an award honoring the top true-freshman in the conference.
Eovaldi finished third in his collegiate debut, behind teammates Nathan Henderson and Stephen Schulz.
