Hoffmann’s Overtime Goal Lifts Orange Past #5 Louisville

Louisville, N.Y. – Carolin Hoffmann netted the game-winning goal in the 69^th minute to lift No. 14 Syracuse past No. 5 Louisville on the road Saturday afternoon to close out the regular season. The win marks the third road win over a top-5 opponent this season.

After trailing 1-0 at halftime, Hoffmann scored in the 43^rd minute to tie the game 1-all. Her first goal of the game was on a pass from the middle of the circle by Chiara Gutsche.

The two teams battled to a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation with Louisville edging Syracuse 8-5 in shots and 2-1 in penalty corners.

Eight and a half minutes into overtime, Hoffmann found the back of the goal for the second time, propelling Syracuse to its seventh overtime win of the season.

Sarah Sinck made four saves in the win while Louisville's Hollyn Barr made one save in the loss.

The Orange finish the regular season 12-5 overall and will turn their attention to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Tournament in Boston, Ma., next week where they earned the No. 4 seed. Syracuse and Louisville will meet in the 4/5 game at noon on Thursday, Nov. 7.
