
Women’s Basketball Moves Up in both Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's basketball team moved up one spot to No. 17 in this week's Associated Press (AP) and USA Today/WBCA Coaches Polls. The Orange dominated their only game last week over Atlantic Coast Conference opponent Pittsburgh, walking away with a 90-63 win.
The win over the Panthers marked the programs' second-straight win by 20 or more points, as the team also defeated Wake Forest 77-57 last Sunday. The Orange got help from everyone on the team in the win over Pitt, with four players scoring in double digits and the bench being responsible for 57 points. Emily Engstler led the way with 17 points, while also adding three assists, three blocks, and two steals. Tiana Mangakahia had her sixth double-double of the season, tallying 10 points and 12 assists.
This week, Syracuse wrapped up its home schedule with a loss to defending national champion No. 4 Notre Dame, 98-68. The home finale brought in 7,568 fans, this season's largest crowd. Four Syracuse players scored in double-digits for the third consecutive game, including Tiana Mangakahia who scored team-high 17 points while also adding seven assists and four steals.
The Orange hit the road for the final regular season games. First Syracuse faces No. 22/21 Florida State on Thursday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. and then heads back north to close our the season at Boston College on Sunday, March 3.
