SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse women's basketball point guard Tiana Mangakahia is one of five finalists for the 2018-19 Nancy Lieberman Award, which is awarded annually to the best point guard in the country.

Tiana has led the Orange to their best record in three seasons by averaging 16.8 points, 8.5 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game. In just over 31 minutes per game she is shooting 45 percent from the field, 36 percent from behind the arc, and 88 percent from the free throw line. Mangakahia was named All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) First Team, All-ACC Tournament First Team, Cancun Challenge All-Tournament Team and MVP, and is a four-time ACC Player of the Week this season.
As the season progressed, her named was among the nation's best on all the major awards watch lists, including the Wooden Award Late Season Watch List and the Citizen Naismith Trophy Midseason Team. Mangakahia leads the nation in assists with 279, is second in assists per game (8.5), and was the first Orange player in school history to record a points-rebounds-assists triple double on Jan. 13 when she poured in 34 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists versus North Carolina.
Mangakahia tied a career-high 44 points in Syracuse's first-ever win over No. 22 Florida State in Tallahassee and nearly recorded a triple double in the Orange's NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament first round game against Fordham with 21 points, eight rebounds and 11 assists.
Mangakahia and the Orange face six-seed South Dakota State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Monday night in the Carrier Dome on ESPN. A trip to the Sweet Sixteen is on the line. Tip-off is slated for 7:05 p.m. with Sam Gore and Blair Schaefer on the call.
