
Mangakahia Named Final ACC Player of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. – Tiana Mangakahia had quite the week tying a career-high 44 points against #22 Florida State on the road, becoming the fastest to score 1,000 career points in program history and leading the 18th-ranked Syracuse Orange to a 2-1 week en route to being named the final Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Week.
The junior guard began her week by pouring in 17 points against No. 4 Notre Dame, all in the second half, to go with seven assists and four steals in the Orange's only loss of the week. Mangakahia came back in their second game with 44 points on 16-of-20 (.800) shooting from the field along with eight assists and three steals to lead 'Cuse past Florida State, 94-88. She rounded out her the week scoring her 1,000th career point in Sunday's 76-59 win at Boston College where she led the team with 27 points. Mangakahia joined 27 former Syracuse players that have surpassed the career milestone and became the fastest to do so in just 60 games.
Mangakahia averaged over 55 percent from the field and was 6-for-12 from behind the arc. The top free throw shooter in the conference also maintained a 90.9% mark from the line over the three-game stretch.
It is the sixth time Mangakahia has earned ACC Player of the Week accolades and third time the Australia native has earned the recognition this week.
The 18th-ranked Orange are headed to Greensboro, N.C., for the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. 'Cuse secured the No. 5 seed and a first round bye for the third time in six years. The Orange will play the winner of Virginia/Boston College on Thursday at 11 a.m. on RSN.
