COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Top teams collide when No. 4/4 Syracuse takes on No. 2/2 Maryland on Saturday, March 9 at noon. The game will be played at Maryland Stadium. It's the first road test for the Orange as they started the season with seven consecutive home games.

Saturday's contest is the fourth straight for Syracuse against a top-15 opponent. In their last four games, the Orange have defeated then No. 4/5 Northwestern, No. 13/12 Loyola and No. 7/6 Virginia.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse (6-1) defeated its second top-10 opponent of the season in a 16-11 win against the Virginia Cavaliers on March 2. Eight players scored at least one goal for the Orange, led by a four-goal effort from junior Emily Hawryschuk. Redshirt junior Mary Rahal added two goals and three assists to tie her career-high point total, while Nicole Levy had two goals and two assists in a four-point afternoon for the senior.

SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
Maryland continued its hot start to the season with a dominant 17-9 effort against Hofstra on March 2. The win pushed the Terrapins to 5-0 on the season, including wins against two top-5 opponents.

Maryland is led by senior midfielder Jen Giles, who has 15 goals and five assists on the season. Paired with graduate student Erica Evans (11G, 5A) and sophomore Grace Griffin (11G, 4A), the Terps are averaging 16.2 goals per game, which rank 10th in the country. Maryland's Megan Taylor has been strong in goal, ranking fourth in the country in save percentage (.557) and 12th in goals-against average.

Head coach Cathy Reese is in her 12th year at the helm of the Terps, leading the team to four national championships and another 10 appearances at championship weekend.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will the 24th meeting between Syracuse and Maryland. The Terrapins have won 22 of the previous 23 contests. Last season, Maryland visited the Carrier Dome and posted an 18-11 victory.
