Orange Women Soar in National Poll

The Syracuse women's cross country team moved up 10 spots in the rankings to No. 17 this week, while the Orange men moved up one spot to No. 12 in the USTFCCCA National Poll.
Both squads are ranked No. 1 in the Northeast Region for the first time since 2014 after a clean sweep of the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown.
The Syracuse men jumped ahead of ACC rival NC State in this week's poll. Defending NCAA Champion Northern Arizona (329) remains No. 1 in the poll, to lead an unchanged top-five. BYU (318), Washington (295), Colorado (290) and Iowa State (287) round out the top-five spots. The Orange men received 188 points, placing them 23 points behind No. 11 Oregon.
The 'Cuse women were the biggest riser of any school in this week's rankings. Syracuse earned 150 points, propelling them up to No. 17 from No. 27 a week ago. Colorado (316), New Mexico (315), Arkansas (306), Washington (281) and Stanford (280) round out the top-five. The 'Cuse women sit just nine points behind No. 16 Penn State in the poll.
Both squads are back in action on Oct. 18 at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational.
