Louisville Snaps Orange Home Unbeaten Streak

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The home unbeaten streak for Syracuse women's soccer came to a close this afternoon as the Orange were shutout, 3-0, by 22nd-ranked Louisville (8-1, 1-1 ACC) in the first home Atlantic Coast Conference match of the season. 'Cuse (2-5-2, 0-1-1 ACC) returns to SU Soccer Stadium on Sunday to host #6 Florida State at 1 p.m. The match will be shown live on ACCNX, and parking and admission are free.
Â
Head coach Nicky Adams credited today's performance to an uncharacteristically slow start and lack of finishing ability in the first half.
Â
"I thought we had good energy coming into this match so I was a bit shocked with how energetic we were at the start of the game," Adams said. "I'll give Louisville a lot of credit, the three goals they scored were clinical. I don't think we played well in the first half but we still created two breakaway chances. Had we put those away, we'd be looking at a different game."
Â
How it happened
Louisville scored the game-winner 35 seconds into the first half off a low-angled shot from Delaney Snyder. The Cardinals continued to pepper the goal mouth, sending five more chances in before the 21st minute of play. Syracuse had two shots in that same span.
Â
The second goal of the game came with 10 minutes to go in the first half when Louisville's Corinne Dente tallied her first goal of the season. Louisville closed the door midway through the second half when Emina Ekic sent in a final goal from the top of the box that curled into the left upper 90.

Up Next
Syracuse's next game against the Seminoles is Sunday at 1 p.m. The team will be celebrating Beach Day at SU Soccer Stadium.
