Three members of the Syracuse Cross Country team have been named to the All-ACC Academic team.
Orange honorees include senior Dominic Hockenbury, junior Amanda Vestri, and graduate student Jordan Jacob. Each of which earned either All-ACC or All-Region honors on the course this year.
Hockenbury was a key asset to the men claiming the ACC team Championship win, when he finished 19th with a time of 24:53.8. He also took 27th at the NCAA Northeast Regional to help the Orange qualify for the NCAA Championship. He is majoring in biology.
Vestri made an immediate impact this season after transferring from Iowa State. She debuted for the Orange with a second place finish at the Coast-to-Coast Battle with a time of 17:03.0. She also turned in a top-10 finish at the ACC Championships. At Regionals, she finished 13th overall and was a member of both the All-ACC and the USTFCCCA All-Region teams.
Jordan Jacob also transferred to Cuse this season and made her presence known with an All-Region season after she finished 10th at the NCAA Northeast Regional. Jacob is pursuing a master's in exercise science.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average, as well as a 3.0 for each of the prior two semesters. Athletic achievements from the season are also considered during the selection process.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes academic achievements for all conference student-athletes with grade point average of 3.0, will be released in July.
