
Trio of Seniors to Serve as Ice Hockey Captains

Veterans Kristen Siermachesky, Jessica DiGirolamo and Emma Polaski will lead the 2020-21 Syracuse University ice hockey team as captains. Siermachesky, who was an alternate captain last season, will be a co-captain alongside DiGirolamo, and Polaski will don the "A" as an alternate captain.

A defender, Siermachesky scored five points (2-3) and 21 blocks last season and finished +7 through 36 games. She has 10 points (4-6) and 91 blocks in 99 career games. The New Liskeard, Ontario native is the president of Syracuse's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She is a three-time Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Honor Roll selection.

A native of Mississauga, Ontario, DiGirolamo skated in every game in 2019-20 and finished tied for third in goals (eight) and second in points (23). She had six multi-point games blocked a team-high 71 shots, and started last year in Hockey Canada's Senior National Camp. The 2018-19 CHA All-Tournament Team selection and 2017-18 CHA All-Rookie Team honoree is a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection, as well.

Polaski, a forward who tallied nine goals and 10 assists in 2019-20. The native of Morristown, N.J. had five multi-point games last season and her nine goals was the second-best total on the team. Polaski is also a three-time ACC Academic Honor Roll selection.
