
Orange Skaters Earn Awards

Syracuse University junior Abby Moloughney and freshman Sarah Thompson earned College Hockey America weekly honors after leading the Orange in their weekend series against Penn State. Moloughney is the league's Player of the Week and Thompson is the Rookie of the Week.

Moloughney, who hails from Ottawa, Ontario, scored two goals and had two assists in the two-game series against Penn State for a total of four points. In Saturday's win, she scored the goal to tie the game at two, and then assisted on the game-winner. She is tied for fifth nationally with 1.0 points per game.

Moloughney has three goals and four assists for seven points in 2020-21, and is one of three current players to be in the 50-Point Club (54 points on 23 goals and 31 assists in 81 games). She has recorded five games with three or more points during her Syracuse career, including earlier this season against RIT. This is the second CHA Player of the Week for Moloughney, and the second in a row for the Orange after Victoria Klimek earned the honor last week.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Thompson Scored one goal and had two assists in the two-game series against Penn State for a total of three points. She assisted on the first goal of the game on Friday, and scored Syracuse's first goal and assisted on the final goal on Saturday. She has two goals and three assists (five points) in 2020-21. She ranks 11th nationally in points per game for freshmen. Thompson's weekly award follows the recognition of classmate Rayla Clemons, who was named CHA Rookie of the Month for November.

Syracuse will return to the ice in January to resume CHA play.
