2/10/2020 7:32:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Kiara Lewis is the College Sports Madness National Player of the Week for the second time this season. The honor follows a week in which Lewis averaged 23.5 points per game while guiding the Orange to a pair of Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) wins, including a 59-51 upset over #5 Louisville on Sunday. She previously earned National Player of the Week recognition on Jan. 6 after the Orange defeated #8 Florida State and Notre Dame in back-to-back home games, both in overtime.Â
Lewis shot 46.2 percent from behind the three-point line over the two game stretch averaging 3.0 three-pointers per game. She added 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.5 assists to her already impressive resume last week.
Against Boston College, Lewis led all scorers in the 89-79 win with 23 points. She had eight rebounds, three assists and three steals and shot 50 percent from downtown.Â
Lewis had a game-high 24 points and four steals in Sunday's win. It was the first time Syracuse had defeated a top-5 opponent in Carrier Dome history and was the first home win over a top-5 team since 1996. It was more than just an offensive effort for Lewis against the Cardinals, she tallied four steals and a block as the Orange held Louisville to its lowest scoring performance of the season (51 points).Â
