COLLEGE PARK, Md. – No. 4 Syracuse women's lacrosse team puts its four-game winning streak on the line when it takes on defending national champion and ninth-ranked Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 29. Opening draw is scheduled for 12 p.m. in College Park.

ORANGE UPDATE
No. 4 Syracuse improved its winning streak to four and its record to 5-1 after defeating Colgate, 21-4, on Monday night. Sophomore Megan Carney led the team with four goals and six points. Junior Sam Swart and senior Emily Hawryschuk each had a hat trick in the victory.

The Orange rank eighth in the nation in scoring offense. They average 27.16 points per game and have scored 109 goals in just six games. Thirty of those goals came from Hawryschuk, who leads the nation in goals and points. She is also third in goals per game.

Syracuse's defense has held its last four opponents to 20 combined goals. Senior Asa Goldstock has been locking down the goal this season. She has a 7.61 goals-against average and a .456 save percentage.

SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
No. 9 Maryland enters Friday's game with a 1-2 record with losses to No. 1 North Carolina and then No. 14 Florida.

Senior Kali Hartshorn is the only Terrapin with double-digit points on the season. She leads the team with seven goals, five assists and 12 points. She also leads the team in draw controls with 24. Maddie McSally and Emily Sterling have both spent time in goal for Maryland. Combined they have a 13.33 goals-against average and a .355 save percentage.

Head coach Cathy Reese is in her 13th year at the helm of the Terps. She has led the team to five national championships, including last season's 12-10 victory over Boston College.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 25th meeting between Syracuse and Maryland. The Terrapins have won 23 of the previous 24 contests. Last season, Maryland defeated Syracuse 12-11 in OT in College Park. Hawryschuk and Meaghan Tyrrell combined for seven goals, but the Terrapins were able to escape with the victory.

The Orange begin ACC play and a six-game road stretch against No. 23 Virginia Tech on Sunday, March 8. It is a neutral site game in Charlotte, N.C. and it is part of the Crown Lacrosse Classic. Opening draw is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
