
Orange Sweep at Battle in Beantown

The Syracuse cross country teams swept the Three Team Battle in Beantown on Friday. The men secured a fourth consecutive win in Boston, while the women put up a repeat performance of last year's victory.
Redshirt senior JP Trojan and senior Amanda Vestri each posted their second individual victories of the season to pace the Orange.

The men's squad dominated the 8k race, posting eight of the top 10 finishers for 18 points. Trojan led all runners with a time of 24:41, with teammate Joe Dragon crossing the finish line just one second behind him. Matthew Scrape (24:47), Alex Comerford (24:56), Nathan Henderson (25:12), Silas Derfel (25:29) and Stephen Schulz (25:30) secured fourth through eighth place, respectively. Noah Beveridge rounded out the top 10 with a time of 25:39. This is the Orange men's second-straight win this season.

The 'Cuse women held off Army, securing the first victory of 2020 with four of the top 8 finishers. Vestri won the women's 5k race with a time of 17:23, edging out Boston College's Lauren White. The Orange rookies impressed in the meet as true freshmen Savannah Roark (18:09) and Sarah Connelly (18:11) put up impressive performances, crossing the finish line in 5th and 6th place, respectively. Redshirt freshman, Kate Kemnitz (18:22) finished in eighth to put Syracuse on top.
