As the Syracuse Orange prepare to host Notre Dame in the Carrier Dome on Sunday, Nov. 14 (1 pm., ACC Network), we continue our Q&A series to help you get to know your Orange! In this edition we talk with redshirt sophomore Teisha Hyman.Â
1. How does it feel to be back on the court after missing last season while rehabbing a knee injury? Did you have any jitters from the first game of the season?
Â
It feels like a relief and I'm grateful to be back playing.Â
Â
2. What do you feel is the biggest strength of your game? What is something you have been working on improving?
Â
I think my ability to score and my basketball IQ are my biggest strengths.Â
Â
3. You have a really interesting major, can you tell us what it is and what you hope to do with your degree after college?
Â
My major is environmental & interior design in the College of Visual & Performing Arts. It is basically interior architecture with the main goal of designing a space that includes layout and how one moves throughout the space. We need to understand how a space interacts and how it can co-exist effectively with the environment.
Â
4. Would you rather hit a buzzer beater to win the game or get a defensive stop to secure the win?
Â
I would rather hit a buzzer beater.
Â
5. What kind of leader are you? Are you a vocal leader or do you lead by example?
Â
I am a vocal leader on the court, I know the game pretty well so if I see something I'll communicate what I see. I am laid back but I can lead by example.
Â
6. What was your favorite team activity you did over the summer? What made it so special?
Â
Probably when we got together to eat and play laser tag. I like food and laser tag was fun because we were all literally just having fun with no worries except not getting caught in laser tag.
Â
7. Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Â
Derrick Rose because he is relentless and he never quits. I try to model my game after his and we faced the same injuries. We are both explosive and athletic. He is exciting to watch but he's quiet, he just handles business.
Â
8. If you had to chose between living in the country, a major city, in the mountains or on a beach, which would you choose and why?
Â
On a beach because I love nature. Just watching the sunset over the water is so pretty. I can watch the calming water all day. It brings me to a place of peace and relaxation. That is actually a dream of mine to live in a beach house.
Â
9. What is your favorite place on campus? What do you like to do there?
Â
I would say Schine Student Center. I hang with my teammates and other friends and eat there. That's like the hangout spot. We can talk, take a nap or just sit and enjoy each other's company.
Â
10. What makes playing in the Carrier Dome so special?
Â
I think just knowing it is Cuse's main attraction and focal point is what makes it so special.
