As the Syracuse Orange prepare to host Cornell in the Carrier Dome on Wednesday, Dec. 8 (7 p.m., ACCNX), we continue our Q&A series to help you get to know your Orange! In this edition we talk with Acting Head Coach Vonn Read.Â
1. What are you most excited for about this season?
I am most excited to see our ladies compete in the ACC!
2. What are your goals for the team this year?
My goal is to see this team reach it's full potential on and off the court.
3.You've been with the Orange for over a decade, what has been your favorite moment from your time here?
My favorite moment was playing in the NCAA National Championship game in 2016.
4. What do you love most about coaching?
I love the competition and I love practice!
5. You have published six basketball playbooks and other articles for basketball publications. Where does your passion for writing come from?
It just comes from my passion for basketball.
6. What is your favorite family tradition?
Family vacations
7. What is your favorite sports movie?
Moneyball
8. What's something special about you that not many people know?
I am a pretty decent chess player.
9. How would your 10-year-old self react to the life you are living right now?
My 10-year-old self would be impressed with the opportunities I've been afforded in life. Â
10. How did your interest in basketball begin?
My love for basketball came from my grandparents influence.Â
