SYRACUSE, N.Y. – After opening the season with a win at Loyola last Saturday, the No. 2 Syracuse women's lacrosse team takes the field at home for the first time in 2021 against No. 5 Stony Brook for its second-straight top-five matchup.

Opening draw is scheduled for 10 a.m. in the Carrier Dome. The game will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Live updates will also be available on Twitter (@CuseWLax.)

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse (1-0) soared to a season-opening 18-6 victory at Loyola on Saturday. Sam Swart and Emily Hawryschuk led the Orange with four goals apiece while Meaghan Tyrrell and Megan Carney each tallied hat tricks. Carney paced Syracuse with six points during the contest, tying with Emily Ehle for the team-lead in assists (3).

The 'Cuse continued its defensive dominance by only allowing six goals to a Greyhound team that averaged 17.6 goals per game a year ago. In 2020, the Orange surrendered 7.00 goals per game, a mark that led the nation.

SCOUTING THE SEAWOLVES
Stony Brook last took the field on Tuesday afternoon, when it defeated #15 USC, 15-3. The Seawolves hold a 2-1 record on the year. Their lone loss came in the season-opener at #1 North Carolina, 14-7.

The Seawolves currently rank second in the nation in shot percentage (.542) and seventh in the nation in free position percentage (.556).

Graduate midfielder Ally Kennedy leads the America East Conference and ranks 11th in the country with 11 goals on the year. Last season, she led the conference in both goals (22) and points (27) in five contests.

Syracuse leads the all-time series against Stony Brook, 2-1. Last season, the 12th-ranked Seawolves edged the #4 Orange in the Dome, 17-16. Hawryschuk led Syracuse in both goals (6) and points (7), while Stony Brook received stellar performances from Taryn Ohlmiller (6 goals, 2 assists) and Kennedy (4 goals, 3 assists) in the victory.
