
Cross Country Returns at Florida State

Syracuse senior Amanda Vestri took seventh overall in a loaded field at the FSU Winter XC Classic, to highlight the 'Cuse cross country programs' return to the course.
Vestri traversed the 6000-meter course in 20:25.7, to lead all Syracuse performers. A strong performance from freshman Savannah Roark (21:37.4) placed her inside the top-60, while Justus Holden-Betts (21:48.7), Abigail Spiers (21:52.6) and Ellie Lawler (22:11.5) rounded out the Syracuse scoring. The women took 13th overall in a loaded field in Tallahassee that featured a number of ranked teams.
The Orange men were led by seniors Joe Dragon and JP Trojan. Dragon finished the 8k race in 24:10.7, which was good for 24th overall. Trojan was not far behind in 24:17.7, which was good for 37th overall.
Freshmen Silas Derfel (24:18.2) and Alex Comerford (24:23) were the next-two runners to cross the line for the Orange, finishing in 39th and 45th, respectively. Nathan Henderson (64th) rounded out the Syracuse scoring in 24:42.9. Matthew Scrape (24:58.1) and Aidan Tooker (25:13.4) also raced for the Orange.
The meet is one-of-two for Syracuse today as the track team is set to run at Virginia Tech's Doc Hale Elite Meet tonight.
