Five Syracuse standouts earned All-ACC Academic honors from the cross country season, with Silas Derfel, Joe Dragon, Matt Scrape and JP Trojan earning the honor for the men, while Amanda Vestri was selected from the women.
Vestri was the runner up at the ACC Cross Country Championships – and later this year won the 5000-meter run at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. She is majoring in health and exercise science and was the Orange's top finisher in every meet this year. She took 71st at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in March.
Derfel was part of the Orange's NCAA Championship roster after helping the team qualify for the event with his seventh-place finish at the FSU Last Chance meet. A redshirt freshman majoring in health and exercise science, Derfel finished 26th at the ACC Championships.
Dragon was Syracuse's top finisher at the ACC Championship, taking 10th to earn All-ACC honors for the fourth time. A senior majoring in political science and history, Dragon took 128th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships this year.
Scrape is majoring in biology and earned All-ACC honors with a 21st place finish at the ACC Championships. He turned in a top-10 finish at the FSU Last Chance Meet and was part of the Orange's NCAA Championship roster, taking 175th.
In his first season with the Orange, Trojan earned All-ACC honors on the track and was also 'Cuse's top finisher in a few meets in cross country. He was a key contributor to the Orange qualifying for the NCAA Championships with his fourth-place finish at the FSU Last Chance Meet. He also was the individual winner at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown and the Dual Meet with Army to open the season.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
