Five Named to All-ACC Academic
1/26/2022 2:00:00 PM | Cross Country
Five Orange women were tabbed to the All-ACC Academic Team for women's cross country.
The five selections were the third-most of any women's team. The SU men also had the third-most men selected on its team – which was announced earlier on Wednesday – and the nine total selections between the two programs trails just NC State for the most of any cross country program in the ACC.
On the women's team, Holly Bent, Annie Boos, Sydney Nowicki, Bethany Steiner and Amanda Vestri were selected.
Vestri, the ACC runner up in cross country and NCAA Northeast Regional Champion, was Syracuse's top-finisher in every race she competed in this season. The senior health and exercise science major was unable to compete in the NCAA Championships due to an injury, but finished the year with All-ACC and USTFCCCA All-Northeast Region honors.
Boos, a graduate student in the magazine, newspaper and digital journalism program in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, was another All-ACC performer for 'Cuse, helping Syracuse finish fourth as a team at the event. She went on to take 12th at the NCAA Northeast Regional to earn all-region honors.
Bent also was an All-Region performer, finishing 25th in what was her final meet of the season. A top-30 finisher at the ACC Championships, Bent is a graduate student in the public diplomacy and global communications program in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
Nowicki finished in the top-50 at both the ACC and NCAA Northeast Region Championships. She also turned in a personal-best 6k time at the NCAA Championships in 21:16.0. She is majoring in chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences.
Steiner, a health and exercise science major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics, took 10th at the John Reif Memorial in her season finale, and posted a collegiate-best 6k time of 24:03.9 at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invite at Penn State in September.
