SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Dyaisha Fair is one of the newcomers to watch in the ACC this season. The league office announced the Blue Ribbon Panel All-ACC Preseason Team and Newcomer Watch List as well as the predicted order of finish. Fair is one of five ACC newcomers recognized while the Orange were selected to finish 10th in head coach Felisha Legette-Jack's first season.
Earlier this week, Fair was named to the watch-list for the 2023 Nancy Lieberman Award, which is given out each year by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to the nation's top point guard. Fair came to Syracuse this offseason after three years at Buffalo where she emerged as one of the top guards in the country. During her freshman campaign, she played in all 30 games, 26 starts, and was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Freshman of the Year. She finished ranked fourth in the nation in scoring, averaging 22.0 points.
As a sophomore she was an All-MAC selection and was named to the All-MAC Defensive Team while adding 24.1 points per game.
Last season, she scored 23.4 ppg, marking the second time in three years Fair was top-5 in the country in scoring average.
Syracuse finished 12th in the league with a 4-14 record last season and returns one starter in 2022 All-ACC Honorable Mention selection Teisha Hyman. Legette-Jack returned home in March 2022 and brought in eight transfers, including Fair, and two freshmen to the mix. Â
