Syracuse jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first five minutes of the game and then battled back in the third period to force overtime at Boston University. Orange (3-4-1 overall) defenseman Rachel Teslak scored the second and fourth goals and Darci Johal and Kate Holmes scored one each in the 4-4 OT game. Forward Tatum White had three assists and goaltender Allie Kelley posted her third consecutive 30-plus save game with 34. Syracuse and BU will play the series finale on Saturday at 3 pm at the Walter Brown Arena in Boston.

"I am really proud of our effort tonight," said head coach Britni Smith. "BU is a team that could end up being a top 10 or top 15 team at the end of the year. I thought we did a great job sticking to our game plan. We have talked a lot about a consistent 60 (minutes). I am not sure we were totally consistent with our execution tonight, but I think our battle and our compete was there for 60 minutes tonight."

Johal scored 24 seconds into the game on assists from Kailey Langefels and Tatum White. Four minutes later Teslak, who earned the College Hockey America Defenseman of the Week Award last week, made it 2-0 Syracuse tallying a goal on assists from White and Weiss. Boston University (0-2-1) responded to scored three in a row to take a 3-2 lead into the locker room after two periods.

In the third Holmes tied the game, 3-3, on assists from Johal and White. After the Terriers tallied their fourth goal, Teslak tallied her second of the game unassisted to knot the score at four. Â In the overtime period Kelley had five saves.

Syracuse and BU have played twice with both games resulting in a 3-3 overtime tie. The first time the teams played was in the first round of the 2022 Battle at the Burgh.
