We continue our Q&A series with senior Delaney Sweitzer.
What's it like to play college lacrosse with your sister?
I couldn't imagine it any other way. She is my best friend, and I love being able to share this journey with her. Her passion, commitment, and work ethic pushes me to be a better player and the best version of myself. I am so grateful for her and the unconditional love and support she gives me every day on and off the field.Â
Â
What were some of the reasons you came to Syracuse?
I came to Syracuse because of the camaraderie of the 'Cuse community and the family atmosphere. It is truly a special place, and I am so grateful to be a part of such an amazing community with many amazing people.Â
Â
The defense has really come together as a unit. What are some of the keys to the group's success?
Our team has a bond like no other, and the connections we have built off the field have definitely translated onto the field. Regarding our defensive unit, we all have the same mindset, which has allowed us to succeed and push each other to improve every day. Having a great mentality is momentous. We know we won't be perfect, but we focus on what we can do to prepare for every play.Â
Â
Who is your role model in Lacrosse or who did you love to watch growing up?
Two people that I envied growing up were Liz Hogan and Devon Wills. I loved watching both play. They are relentless and hard-working, and they changed the game for female goalies. I loved watching how active they were outside of the cage, as well as the leadership role that they played. I actually chose the number two because of Liz, and it is an honor to wear the number she once was here at Syracuse.Â
Â
What is the best piece of advice you could give a younger lacrosse player?
The best advice I could give to a younger lacrosse player is to never give up and believe in yourself. You can do whatever you put your mind to, and if you can dream it, you can do it. Nothing beats hard work, so continue to do the little things and put in the work every day.Â
Â
What is your favorite sports team?
By far the Philadelphia Eagles.Â
Â
Go to karaoke song?
My go-to karaoke song would probably be Don't Stop Believin; or Since You've Been Gone.Â
Â
Favorite celebrity?
Serena Williams or Dawn StaleyÂ
Â
Which teammate is:
Best Dressed: This is hard, but my top three people would be Sierra Cockerille, Superia Clark, and Chloe Jones. They have swag.Â
Â
Dancer: Tate can do the worm like I have never seen before.Â
Â
Cook:I definitely would put myself up there for best cook. It is something that I enjoy doing, and my mom is excellent at it, so I have learned a lot from her.
Â
Funniest: This is entirely unbiased, and a lot of people would agree, but Savannah is by far the funniest person on the team.Â
Â
What teammate do you think is going to make a big impact the rest of the season?
Someone I think is going to make a big impact the rest of the season is Sierra Cockerille. I admire her for her resiliency and hard work, and there is no doubt that she will continue to make a massive impact on our team.Â
