
Leitner Earns AHA Rookie Of The Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University women's ice hockey freshman Laura Leitner has been tabbed as the AHA Rookie of the Week, as the Atlantic Hockey American (AHA) announced its weekly honors on Monday.
Leitner scored her first college goal on Friday against No. 5 Colgate in a 3-1 home loss to the Raiders. The goal came on the first shot of the defenseman's career and was also her first career point.
The Krumpendorf, Austria native finished Friday night's contest with a +1 rating. She posted an even rating on Saturday against the Raiders.
Mercyhurst swept the other three weekly AHA awards, with Marielle Parks earning Forward of the Week, Makayla Javier taking home Defenseman of the Week and Magdalena Luggin winning Goaltender of the Week.
The Orange (5-12) will host Robert Morris in a two-game series at Tennity Ice Pavilion this weekend. The first contest is slated for Friday at 6 p.m. with the second set for a 3 p.m. puck drop on Saturday.
