Â
The Lady Demons score six unanswered runs to come from behind and earn the victory in the afternoon contest while the Warhawks scored all four of their runs over the first three frames.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST NORTHWESTERN STATE:Â
Syracuse carried its offensive production into its second day of the weekend, scoring three runs in the first and second innings.
Â
In the opening frame, sophomore Vanessa Flores singled in the first run of the contest on a base hit to right before fellow sophomore Madelyn Lopez drove in a pair on a fielder's choice.
Â
The Orange doubled its advantage following an RBI single by Jasso and two-run single up the middle off the bat of graduate student Rebecca Clyde.
Â
Using the long ball, Northwestern State made it a one-run game. The Lady Demons used a two-run shot from Taylor Williams and back-to-back solo homers off the bats of Tristin Court and Ashlyn Walker in the third before an RBI groundout the next inning made it a 6-5 contest.
Â
Flores drove in her second and third runs of the day in the home half of the fourth, extending Syracuse's lead to 8-5.
Â
Northwestern State took control of the game in the fifth with a five-spot, highlighted by two-run singles by Williams and Aly Delafield. Williams recorded her fifth RBI in the seventh, for the Lady Demons' 11th run of the game.
Â
Senior Lindsey Hendrix allowed four runs in 2.2 innings in the no-decision. Sophomore Julianna Verni was tacked with the loss, surrendering five runs, four earned, in 2.2 out of the bullpen.
Â
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST LOUISIANA-MONROE:Â
Elle Carter recorded an RBI triple in the second before scoring the game's second run in the next at bat on a fielder's choice.
Â
Louisiana-Monroe doubled its lead in the home half of the third when two runs came across to score on Jacelyn Buck's sacrifice bunt.
Â
That was all the run support that Warhawks starter Maddie Nichols needed, as the hurler went the distance. Nichols allowed Syracuse's lone run in the seventh when Lopez singled through the right side to plate pinch hitter Peyton Schemmer.
Â
Junior Britney Lewinski took the loss, yielding all four runs in three innings. Sophomore Madison Knight took over for Lewinski in the circle, throwing three scoreless frames in relief.
