
Syracuse Continues ACC Play Against No. 17 Clemson

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse hosts No. 17 Clemson for a three-game set beginning April 6. Due to weather, Saturday's game will now begin at 4 p.m. with a doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 10 a.m. All three games will broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Syracuse and Clemson have met seven times in program history. The Tigers hold a 6-1 advantage against its conference opponent and are 3-1 at Skytop Stadium. In their last meeting, the Orange held Clemson to its second-lowest run total of the 2023 season. Madison Knight tallied her first career complete game versus the Tigers.

ORANGE UPDATE:Â
- Syracuse won its home-opening series against Georgia Tech, taking the final two games of the set. The Orange won 6-5 on a walk-off in Friday's contest before earning a 7-1 victory in the finale.
- Freshman Makenzie Foster recorded her first career walk-off, doubling home junior Laila Morales-Alves in Friday's game. Foster drove in two runs during the series after having one RBI entering the weekend.
- The Orange pitching staff only allowed one home run to a Yellow Jacket offense who ranked fifth in the country with 1.71 longballs per game.
- Sophomore Madelyn Lopez recorded a career-high four RBI in Saturday's matchup, leading the team versus the Yellow Jackets.
- Junior Taylor Posner has scored a run in eight of the last 10 games.
- The last time the Orange defeated a Top-25 team was in 2022, defeating conference foe Duke, 1-0, at home.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT:
- Clemson holds an 24-11 record in 2024 and 8-4 in conference play. The Tigers are coming off a 4-3loss from regional foe Furman and have lost five of their last eight contests.
- The Tigers are led by Valerie Cagle, who paces the team in batting average (.376), hits (38) and RBI (33). McKenzie Clark is second on the team with 34 runs scored and 8 home runs.
- Double-threat Cagle sets the tone for the pitching staff, striking out 84 batters in 77 innings. As a staff, Clemson has a 1.96 ERA across 236 innings.
