
SU Loses To Tigers; Series Continues Sunday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse lost to Clemson, 13-2, in the series opener Saturday at Skytop Stadium.

Madelyn Lopez slugged a home run for the second straight contest for the Orange (16-15, 4-9 ACC) while junior Kelly Breen recorded a pair of hits in three trips to the plate.

Maddie Moore scored a game-high three runs as the Tigers improve to 25-11 and 9-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST THE TIGERS:Â
Moore led off the game with a solo shot to dead center before the Orange struck back in the home half of the first. Lopez sent the third pitch she saw from Clemson starter Regan Spencer over the right field wall to level the game at one.

The Tigers' bounced back, plating six runs in the second, highlighted by a two-run double off the bat of Alex Brown. Leading 7-2, Clemson tacked on six more insurance markers in the top of the fifth, putting the run-rule into effect.

UP NEXT:Â
Syracuse and Clemson conclude the series with a doubleheader on Sunday, April 7. The twin bill is set for 10 a.m. and noon. Both games will air on ACC Network Extra.

- Senior Lindsey Hendrix made her 87th career appearance and 63rd career start in the loss.
