Syracuse University women's ice hockey graduate student Bryn Saarela has been selected as the AHA Forward of the Month for competition during the month of December. Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) announced its monthly winners Friday afternoon.

Saarela led the Orange in two games in early December with seven points across a pair of league games. She tallied a hat trick in the Robert Morris series opener, capping the day with a hand in all four goals en route to a 4-1 win with an assist.

The next day, the Denver, Colorado product tallied another three points with a pair of goals and another assist. The graduate student finished her December with a +5 rating, backed by a short-handed goal in the second game to help Syracuse secure the home sweep of Robert Morris. Additionally, Saarela tallied six blocks, including five in game two of the week.

The Orange return to action this afternoon with a 4 p.m. ET faceoff at No. 4 Minnesota Duluth. Friday's matinee will be carried on BTN+.
