Syracuse women's basketball freshman center Uche Izoje has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, the league announced today.
The honor recognizes Izoje's outstanding performances in Syracuse's two victories last week. Against Binghamton on Dec. 16, the rookie posted 12 points, 14 rebounds, three blocks and two assists in 25 minutes of action. She followed that with a dominant 23-point, 11-rebound double-double, her fourth of the season, against Mercyhurst on Dec. 19, adding three blocks and shooting an impressive 10-for-12 from the field in 20 minutes.
For the week, Izoje averaged 17.5 points and 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game while shooting 69.6 percent from the floor. She currently leads the Orange in both scoring and rebounding through the early portion of the season and is the ACC leader in field goal percentage (.631) and blocks per game (2.9).Â
This marks the third time Izoje has earned ACC Rookie of the Week recognition, establishing herself as one of the conference's premier first-year players. The honor underscores her immediate impact on the Syracuse program as the Orange continues its 2025-26 campaign finishing non-conference play 10-1 as the Orange are 11-1Â overall and 1-0 in the ACC heading into the second half of the season.
Syracuse returns to action when the Orange host Duke on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 4 p.m. at the JMA Wirless Dome. It's an Orange Out so fans attending the ACC matchup are encouraged to wear orange to the game.Â
