Sophomore Year: Warrick was selected as the BIG EAST’s Most Improved Player after more than doubling his scoring average from the previous year (6.1 to 14.8 ppg) and improving his rebound average by 3.7 boards per game (4.8 to 8.5 rpg)…He was named to the USBWA All-District II Team and the All-BIG EAST Third Team…Warrick started all 35 games at power forward…He recorded 20-or-more points eight times on the season and scored in double-digits 30 times…Warrick grabbed 10-or-more rebounds 13 times and recorded 10 double-doubles…Warrick secured SU’s first NCAA championship when he blocked a Michael Lee three-point attempt out of bounds with 1.5 seconds left against KANSAS…He helped Syracuse to a win in the national semifinal with 18 points against TEXAS…He was named to the All-East Regional team after averaging 14.0 points and 6.5 boards in Syracuse’s wins against AUBURN and OKLAHOMA…He had a personal-best four assists in NCAA tournament games against TEXAS and OKLAHOMA…Warrick recorded four straight double-doubles against BOSTON COLLEGE (24 points and 15 rebounds), MISSOURI (20 and 10), PITTSBURGH (11 and 10) and SETON HALL (22 and 10) mid-season…He notched a double-double in SU’s overtime win against GEORGETOWN with 14 points and a career-high 18 rebounds…He scored a season-best 25 points against CANISIUS…Warrick led the Orange with 80 dunks on the season…He had a season-high seven slams against ALBANY…Warrick was one of 16 finalists for the 2003 USA Basketball Men’s Pan American Games Team.
Freshman Year: Warrick had four-or-more rebounds in 22 games…SU was 17-5 in those contests…He joined the starting lineup against BINGHAMTON and remained there until the Jan. 28 game at GEORGETOWN…The Orange won 15-of-19 games with Warrick among the first five…He averaged 6.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per outing as a starter…He had a season-high 22 points and 11 rebounds when SU defeated CORNELL on Nov. 29…Warrick had 14 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high six blocks in the first-round NIT victory against ST. BONAVENTURE…He followed that with a season-best 40 minutes of play versus BUTLER…Warrick had 15 points and 14 rebounds in the NIT game at RICHMOND…In the five Postseason NIT games Warrick averaged a squad-best 8.4 rebounds…He shot 63 percent from the field in the five outings…During the summer of 2002 he played on a squad that traveled to Europe and played five games.
High School: Warrick helped Friends Central to a 23-2 record and the Friends League title…It was the program’s first championship since 1974. He averaged 15.6 points, 13.0 rebounds and 4.8 blocks in his senior year for the Phoenix…He played for Coach Kino Terrell…Warrick earned All-Friends League, All-Mainline and all-state honors.
Personal: Hakim Hanif Warrick is the son of Kenneth Nichols and Queen Warrick…He was born in Philadelphia…He has two brothers, Bill and Tyrell, and a sister, Ciera…Warrick is majoring in retail management and consumer studies.
