Syracuse All-America goalkeeper Jason Gebhardt ‘98 joined the Orange women’s lacrosse staff as a volunteer assistant coach prior to the 2019 season. Gebhardt was a standout for the men’s lacrosse team from 1995-98.
Since joining the staff, he has mentored two IWLCA All-Americans, including Delaney Sweitzer, who was the 2023 IWLCA Goalkeeper of the Year. Sweitzer ranked eighth in the nation in save percentage (.505) and seventh in saves (185). She was also third in ground balls per game (3.71). Sweitzer earned the ACC Goalkeeper of the Year award and was an All-ACC First Team honoree. In 2021, Asa Goldstock earned IWLCA All-America honors and became Syracuse's all-time leader in saves (663).
Gebhardt is one of the top goalkeepers in Orange men’s lacrosse history. He was a freshman on the 1995 national championship squad and a three-year starter for Syracuse from 1996-98, earning All-America honors as a sophomore. Gebhardt finished his career with 632 saves, which rank fourth on the school’s career record list. In addition, his 265 saves in 1996 rank third on Syracuse’s single-season record list. That same season, he set the school record for most saves (65) and most saves per game (21.7) in the NCAA Tournament.
Gebhardt currently serves as a regional sales manager for a medical device company. He resides in Baldwinsville, N.Y. with his wife, Jen, and daughter.
