Burns Named CHA Rookie of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman defenseman Erin Burns was tabbed the College Hockey America Rookie of the Week for the week of November 30, 2009. The Orange is off to its best start in school history with an 8-6-1 record this season. It is also the second consecutive week an Orange woman has been awarded the weekly honor.
Burns had two points in SU's three games last week, including the game-winner at 19:59 of the second period in Sunday's 3-2 win against Union. She also had a power-play assist in the 4-3 loss at Colgate on Tuesday, November 24. Burns helped the Syracuse penalty killing unit to an 85.7 percent (12-of-14) success rate over the three-game span.
The Orange welcomes CHA conference rival Wayne State to Tennity Ice Pavilion for a two-game series on Friday, December 4 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 5 at 2 p.m.
