Orange Hosts Cardinals Friday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 8 Syracuse returns to conference action on Friday when it hosts BIG EAST newcomer Louisville at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome. The Orange enters the contest with a 6-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in league action, while Louisville is 6-2 this season. It will be the Cardinals first BIG EAST Conference game.
Friday's game will be broadcast live on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area and on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. Admission to Friday's game is free of charge.
Syracuse defeated Connecticut, 13-8, in its conference opener. The victory was SU's 10th straight against BIG EAST opponents during the regular season. After losing its first league game of the 2007 campaign, the Orange won four straight to tie for the regular-season title. In 2008, the Orange was 5-0 in league play to win its first outright BIG EAST crown.
THE SERIES
Friday's game marks the first meeting between Syracuse and Louisville in women's lacrosse. The Cardinals are in their second season of competition and are participating in the BIG EAST Conference for the first time.
DOVE'S COUNTDOWN CONTINUES
Junior Christina Dove needs just seven more points to reach 200 in her career. In 47 career games, Dove has amassed 193 points. With seven more points, she would become the third player in Syracuse history to reach the 200-point plateau. Dove ranks third on the school's career scoring list, behind senior Katie Rowan's 323 points and Leigh-Ann Zimmer's (2001-04) 233 points.
ABOUT FRIDAY'S GAME
Syracuse and Louisville have never met in women's lacrosse ... Friday's game is the Cardinals' first official BIG EAST game. Louisville is in its first year competing in the conference in women's lacrosse ... The Orange's next victory will be the 25th for head coach Gary Gait, who is in his second season at the helm of the Syracuse program.
