
SU Takes on Rutgers in BIG EAST Finale

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Syracuse goes for its third straight BIG EAST regular-season title on Saturday when it faces Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J. at 11 a.m. The Orange, 5-1 in league play, enters the final weekend of conference action tied with Georgetown for the top spot in the BIG EAST standings. Eighth-ranked Syracuse is 11-3 overall this season, while Rutgers is 7-8, including a 3-3 mark against league opponents.
The game will be broadcast on a tape-delay basis on Verizon FiOS1 in New Jersey. The game will also be broadcast live on WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area and on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com. SYRACUSE-RUTGERS SERIES
The Orange and the Scarlet Knights have met each season since SU's inception in 1998. After losing the
fi rst two games in the series, Syracuse has won 10 of the past 11 meetings, including the last eight.
SCOUTING THE SCARLET KNIGHTS
Rutgers features a balanced scoring attack, led by junior Brooke Cantwell. A first-team All-BIG EAST selection last season, Cantwell leads the Scarlet Knights with 35 points on 30 goals and five assists. Overall eight players have scored more than 10 goals this season, while Meghan Flanagan has dished out a team-high 15 assists. Sandra Abel has started all 15 games in goal for Rutgers. She has a 9.93 goals-against average and a .468 save percentage.
SEEING RED
Senior Katie Rowan has enjoyed some of her most productive offensive performances against the Scarlet Knights. Twice she has registered 10 points against Rutgers, including the 2008 BIG EAST
Tournament. In five career games against the Scarlet Knights, Rowan is averaging
7.4 points, 4.6 goals and 2.8 assists per game.
