PRE-TOURNAMENT: DAY 2
![]()
In the early-goings, we surrendered a lot of goals due to physical inferiority and individual mistakes. As time went on, the better we played as a team. We even outscored the men in the third period, 2-0!
Today, we had our last exhibition games before the start of the tournament on Sunday, April 5th, against Kazakhstan.
Our exhibition opponent was Japan - a smaller team, but very strong on its skates. From the beginning, we dominated the flow of the game by attacking and putting a lot of pressure on the goaltender, but we weren't able to capitalize on the numerous chances we had.
Finally, in the middle of the third period we found our way onto the board and that's the way the score stayed when the final horn went off. We won, 1-0. Even though the score was unimpressive, a win is a win and we played solid team hockey for 60 minutes.
I would say, with only a couple days before the start into the tournament, we are in pretty good shape. The next couple of days will be more relaxing as it is important to keep our minds focuses and get our bodies ready for action. We will stay another day here in lonely, quiet Kuortane before we relocate to Hämeelinna. I can hardly wait for the atmosphere of the World Championship."
