
Ice Hockey Finalizes 2009-10 Schedule

Syracuse head coach Paul Flanagan has finalized the team's schedule for the upcoming 2009-10 campaign. In the program's second season, the Orange faces 10 new opponents, starting with a home exhibition game against Guelph at Tennity Ice Pavilion on Sept. 27.
SU travels for four consecutive weekends, beginning in Minnesota for its first two-game series Oct. 2-4. The team will be on the road to Boston College on Friday, Oct. 9 and make its way to New Hampshire the following day to face the Wildcats. The Orange stays along the East Coast when it makes a trip to Connecticut on Oct. 16 before traveling to Providence on Oct. 17. Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute hosts Syracuse on Oct. 23-25. It will mark the seventh meeting against a first-ever opponent.
A weekend off will prepare the Orange for its first home series. It will welcome College Hockey America opponent Niagara on Nov. 6-7.
The team will be on the road to face Robert Morris (Nov. 20-21) and Colgate (Nov. 24) before returning to Tennity to host Union, marking the first-ever meeting between the Orange and the Dutchwomen. The series will begin the longest stretch of home matchups this season. CHA rival Wayne State will travel to Syracuse on Dec. 4-5 before the Orange plays its last non-conference series against Princeton (Dec. 11-12). SU faces Colgate for the second time this season on Jan. 2. Cornell (Jan. 5) and St. Anselm (Jan. 8) are SU's final non-CHA matchups.
The following weekend, the Orange plays host to Quinnipiac (Jan. 15-16) and continues its conference schedule when it welcomes Mercyhurst (Jan. 22-23).
Consecutive away games against CHA foes Wayne State on Jan. 29-30 and Niagara on Feb. 5-6 will precede the team's final series at home. Syracuse will face Robert Morris on Feb. 12-13.
A second meeting against Mercyhurst will wrap up the regular season when it travels to Erie on Feb. 26-27.
The 2010 CHA Championship Tournament begins on Thur., Mar. 4 at the City Sports Center Arena in Detroit. The NCAA Quarterfinals starts on Fri., Mar. 12.
