SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Freshman forward Holly Carrie-Mattimoe was selected the College Hockey America Rookie of the Week for her performance against No. 8 Cornell and St. Anselm. It is the 10th time the Orange has received league honors this season and the sixth time the weekly award has been given to a freshman.
Carrie-Mattimoe scored both SU goals, including the game-winner in overtime, at No. 8 Cornell on January 5. Cornell is the first ranked opponent Syracuse has beaten in just its second season in program history. The Sherwood Park, Alberta native also netted the first goal of the game at St. Anselm on January 8 and later assisted on the game-winning marker, which marked the third consecutive game she has scored at least one goal. The freshman finished with eight shots on goal and a plus/minus rating of +4 last week.
Carrie-Mattimoe is fourth on the team in total points with 16. She has scored six goals and tallied 10 assists for the Orange this season.
The rv/10 Syracuse women's ice hockey team returns to Tennity Ice Pavilion to face off against Quinnipiac on Friday, January 15 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, January 16 at 2 p.m.
