
Menard and Hosoyamada Earn CHA Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Two members of the Syracuse University women's ice hockey team earned College Hockey America (CHA) honors for their performances in the Orange's three games last week. Sophomore Isabel Menard was named CHA Player of the Week for the second time this season and freshman Akane Hosoyamada was tabbed as Rookie of the Week.
Menard had two goals and two assists in three games last week as the Orange went 1-1-1. She tallied a power-play goal and an assist in SU's 4-3 win at Colgate. She scored the only goal in game one against RPI and recorded the game-tying assist on a power-play in game two. Her .64 power-play points a game rank first in the CHA, while her 1.0 assists per game rank second in the CHA and seventh nationally. Menard has nine goals and 14 assists this season.
Hosoyamada tallied an assist in each of SU's three games last week. Against Colgate, she dished out the game-winning assist and in game two of the RPI series, she added the game-tying helper. In game one against RPI she assisted on the Orange's first score. She leads SU's rookies in points with one goal and five assists. Her .43 points per game rank seventh in the CHA for points by a defenseman and fourth in freshman scoring.
The Orange will take on No. 1 Cornell University on Tuesday, November 30 at 7 p.m. at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
