SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Junior forward Julie Rising has been named the College Hockey America Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league on February 1. Rising assisted on the game-winner in Friday's 2-0 shutout at Wayne State, while adding two goals and one assist on Saturday's 3-2 come-from-behind win against the Warriors.
After a scoreless 20 minutes on Friday evening, the Orange opened up the scoring 17 seconds into the second stanza courtesy of a pass from Rising. Rising continued her heroics on Saturday afternoon when Syracuse was trailing 2-0 at the start of the third period. The junior put SU on the board 4:29 into the period to cut into the WSU lead. After dishing out an assist to tie things up at the 15:04 mark, Rising netted the game-winner with 43 ticks remaining in regulation to sweep the two-game series against the Warriors.
The Anchorage, Alaska native finished the weekend set with 13 shots on goal and a +4 plus/minus rating.
The Orange travels to face off against the Niagara Purple Eagles on Friday, February 5 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, February 6 at 2 p.m.
