TORONTO, Ontario – The 2010 College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Year, Isabel Menard, will represent Syracuse at the 2010 Canadian National Women's Under-22 Selection Camp, beginning on Saturday, Aug. 7, at the Mastercard Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
Menard is among a group of 40 skaters competing for one of 22 spots on the 2010-11 U-22 roster. The participants will take part in several practice sessions and intersquad games through Aug. 15. The selected team will remain in Toronto to compete in a three-game series against the United States Women's Under-22 Select Team on Aug. 18 – 21.
All members of the U-22 team will be eligible to represent Canada at the 2011 MLP Cup in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland in January.
Each participant in the selection camp was picked based on evaluations conducted by Hockey Canada regional scouts during the 2009-10 season, including performances with club teams, at national and international events, and at a strength and conditioning camp held in Calgary, Alta. in May.
Menard follows in the footsteps of recent SU graduate, Brittaney Maschmeyer '10, who participated in the camp the past two years and was a member of the U-22 team during the 2008-09 season.
