ORANGE TO FACE NEW FOES THIS WEEKEND
After meeting one of its most traditional opponents in Colgate last Sunday, Syracuse will take on two new opponents this weekend. The Orange has never faced Washington or Portland since the program began in 1996.
HEITMAN LEADS ORANGE TO FIRST VICTORY
This past weekend, sophomore Brielle Heitman finished with two goals against Colgate as the Orange came away with its first victory of the season, a 2-1 win at the SU Soccer Stadium. The transfer from Central Michigan came on as a substitute and tied the score in the 47th minute. She then recorded the game winner in the 55th minute off a corner kick. Heitman became the 20th player in school history to record two or more goals in a game.
CHANGING ROAD WAYS
Friday's game marks the first of three consecutive road games for Syracuse. The Orange's win at Fordham in the fourth game of last season was Syracuse's first victory away from the SU Soccer Stadium since October 2007. Syracuse won its second straight road contest with a 1-0 decision at Binghamton. It marked the first time the Orange had won back-to-back road games since the 2003 campaign when SU won its first two away contests of the season.
