Orange Hosts Bulls Friday

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- With three games remaining in the regular season, Syracuse continues its drive toward a spot in the BIG EAST tournament for the first time since 2005. The Orange faces USF at the SU Soccer Stadium on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. Syracuse enters the game with a 6-5-3 record, 5-3 in the BIG EAST, while the Bulls are 5-6-4 overall, 1-4-3 in conference action.
The Orange will be sporting neon yellow shoe laces in support of Go4theGoal Foundation for pediatric cancer research. Fans can make a donation to the cause at a tent located inside the entrance gate. Admission is free of charge. Following the game, members of the squad will be signing autographs.
THE SERIES
Syracuse and South Florida will meet for the seventh time at the SU Soccer Stadium in. The all-time series between the two squads is tied, 3-3-0. SU did not face USF until the 2005 season, when the Orange recorded a 3-2 victory to clinch a BIG EAST Tournament berth. After winning the first two games of the series, Syracuse has only recorded one win against the Bulls in its last four tries. USF has lost its last three games, all to BIG EAST opponents, Louisville, Connecticut, and Georgetown.
SCOUTING THE BULLS
Demi Stokes leads the offensive charge for the Bulls, recording four goals, which tie the team-high, and four assists, which lead the team. She has taken a BIG EAST-leading 56 shots, resulting in a league-high shots per game average of 4.00. Chelsea Klotz is second on the team with nine points on four goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Nicole McClure has led the goalkeeping duties for USF, playing in 15 games, capturing 60 saves and allowing 17 goals.
ORANGE PUSHES TOWARDS BIG EAST TOURNAMENT BERTH
With three games remaining in the regular season, Syracuse is in a favorable position to earn a spot in the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2005. The Orange enters this weekend's play in third place in the league's American Division with 15 points. The top five teams from each division advance to the conference tournament. The top three finishers from each division earn a bye to the quarterfinals.
ON A ROLL
Syracuse has enjoyed incredible success in the past two weeks. With consecutive wins against Villanova, Seton Hall, Rutgers and Pittsburgh, the Orange had its first four-game winning streak since 2003. Syracuse also has five wins in the conference, which is its highest total since the league began divisional play in 1999.
