SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- After their performances during Syracuse's opening weekend against St. Cloud State and No. 4 Minnesota, Jenesica Drinkwater, Allie LaCombe and Lisa Mullan all earned CHA Weekly Honor Roll status. The trio helped the Orange to a weekend split, including a 2-1 win against the Huskies last Friday.
Drinkwater made 32 saves in Syracuse's opening night victory against St. Cloud State on Friday night. She also made 10 straight saves in the third period to stave off the Huskies and secure the win. Drinkwater, who did not play the final five games of the season, was four saves away from matching her career high of 36 saves. Through the first weekend of play, she is tied for eighth in the nation with a 1.00 goals against average and is seventh in the country with a .970 save percentage.
Mullan scored the game-winning goal against St. Cloud State in the season opener on Friday. Mullan, positioned at the doorstep, gloved down an airborne puck from an initial shot before tucking it past the SCSU goaltender. The goal was her fourth career game-winner, which is tied for third on the SU all-time list.
LaCombe played in both games at the East/West Showcase last weekend in her first collegiate action. LaCombe received the primary assist on SU's first goal of the season against St. Cloud State on Friday. During the weekend, LaCombe was 18-of-33 on faceoffs, including a 9-of-13 night against SCSU.
Syracuse will head to Northeastern and New Hampshire for two games next weekend, beginning Friday at Matthews Arena at 3:00 p.m.
