SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior defender Ashley Cockell of the Syracuse University women's ice hockey team earned College Hockey America (CHA) Player of the Week for her performance during last weekend's series at Robert Morris.
Cockell tallied two goals and an assist as Syracuse tied Robert Morris in overtime twice last weekend. She scored both of SU's goals in Friday's 2-2 draw and assisted on the Orange's second score in Saturday's 2-2 tie.
Game one of the RMU series marked her sixth multiple-point scoring game of the season. Cockell is third on the team in points with 10 goals and 12 assists. The Fort Assiniboine, Alberta native ranks 12th in the nation and second in the CHA in defenseman scoring with .73 points per outing.
Cockell and the Orange will return home on Feb. 25 and 26 for SU's final regular-season series against Niagara before hosting the 2011 CHA Tournament on Match 3-5.
