The -/rv Syracuse University women's basketball team (22-8) will face No. 8 Georgetown (21-9) in the second round of the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. on Saturday, March 5 at 12 p.m. The Orange looks to avenge its regular-season, 80-62 loss to the Hoyas from January 4.
The Orange advanced to the next round of the BIG EAST Tournament for the second consecutive year. This season marks the first time Syracuse has won a game in back-to-back BIG EAST Tournaments since 1985 and 1986. Syracuse enters Saturday's game coming off of a 74-44 first-round victory against Seton Hall. Saturday will mark Georgetown's first game of the tournament, as the squad secured a second-round berth. The Syracuse-Georgetown winner will play No. 1 Connecticut (29-1, 16-0) in the Quarterfinals on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Scouting Georgetown
After winning six in a row, the Hoyas have lost four of their last five games. Georgetown closed out its regular-season schedule with a 60-55 loss at South Florida on February 28.
Sugar Rodgers leads the Hoyas with 18.2 points per game and 75 steals. She is also averaging 4.7 rebounds per game to rank third on the squad.
Georgetown is 11-25 at the BIG EAST Tournament in 25 appearances. The squad is 0-3 under Coach Terry Williams-Flournoy.
2011 marks the second-consecutive year that Georgetown earned a bye in the conference tournament.
Series Records
Georgetown leads the all-time series, 28-24, as well as the BIG EAST Tournament series, 3-1.
Syracuse defeated Georgetown, 68-58, in the squads' last BIG EAST Tournament meeting in 2005.
Georgetown has won the last four meetings between the two squads, including an 80-62 victory earlier this season.
Orange vs. Hoyas in 2010-11
Four Syracuse players logged double-digit points in an 80-62 loss against Georgetown on January 4 at McDonough Arena.
Sophomore guard Elashier Hall led the Orange with a team-best 16 points and six rebounds in the loss. Sophomore center Kayla Alexander added 14 points and five rebounds while senior guard Erica Morrow had 13 points, three rebounds and a pair of assists. Junior guard Iasia Hemingway rounded out the double-digit performers with 10 points and four boards.
A Look Back at Seton Hall
Junior guard Iasia Hemingway netted 17 points and a career-high five assists to lead Syracuse to a 74-44 victory against Seton Hall in the first round of the 2011 BIG EAST Tournament on Friday, March 4 at the XL Center.
Four Syracuse players logged double-digit points in the win. Senior guard Erica Morrow recorded 12 points. Sophomore center Kayla Alexander tallied 16 points in the contest, while sophomore guard Carmen Tyson-Thomas recorded her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 assists.
BIG EAST Tournament Facts
This is the fourth appearance in the conference tournament for the Orange under fifth-year head coach Quentin Hillsman (3-3) and its 27th overall (14-25).
Syracuse's 74-44 win against Seton Hall in the first round of this year's tournament makes the first time the Orange has won a game in back-to-back BIG EAST Tournaments since 1985 and 1986.
Last season, the ninth-seeded Orange won two games before losing to eventual national champion Connecticut in the quarterfinals. It marked the first time SU won a BIG EAST Tournament game since 2005 when it upset Georgetown, 68-58, in the first round.
The program recorded its first BIG EAST Tournament victory when it defeated fourth-seed Pittsburgh, 56-55, in 1985. The Orange then upset top-seed St. John's 67-49 and second-seed Villanova, 57-56, to claim SU'S only BIG EAST Championship.
