
Orange Announces BIG EAST Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The 2011-12 women's basketball BIG EAST schedule, including national television was announced today. The Orange, led by head coach Quentin Hillsman, will take on conference rivals in 16 games, 10 of which are against teams that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament.
Season-ticket packages for Syracuse University basketball are on sale to new season-ticket holders at the Carrier Dome Box Office and online at www.suathletics.com.
Syracuse women's season tickets are priced as follows:
· Courtside Adults – $125
· General Admission/Adults – $90
· General Admission/Current Men's Basketball Season Ticket Holders – $75
· General Admission/Youth (12 and under) – $45
· General Admission/Senior (60 and over) – $45
Single-game sales will start on Wednesday, October 12, at 10 a.m.
The Orange steps out of non-conference play and begins its BIG EAST slate at home against West Virginia on Wednesday, December 7. Syracuse lost a back-and-forth battle at 6/7 West Virginia, 70-61, last season.
Syracuse returns to its non-conference slate for six more games before starting BIG EAST play at Rutgers on Tuesday, January 3. One of SU's four nationally televised games can be seen live on the CBS College Sports Network (CBSSN) at 9 p.m.
The Scarlet Knights swept the Orange last season, winning 78-67 in Syracuse and 54-47 in Piscataway.
SU remains on the road as it travels to Pittsburgh on Saturday, January 7. Current graduate student manager Erica Morrow netted a team-best 17 points to the Orange to a 69-60 victory against the Pirates last season.
The Orange finally returns home to host St. John's (Wednesday, January 11), before heading back on the road to battle Georgetown (Sunday, January 15) and Seton Hall (Sunday, January 22). Junior center Kayla Alexander led all scorers with 26 points to power Syracuse to a come-from-behind 78-67 win at St. John's last season. SU lost at Georgetown, 80-62, but swept Seton Hall, 75-50, and 74-44 in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
SU's contest at Georgetown can be seen live on ESPNU at noon.
Syracuse's returns to the Carrier Dome for four of its next five games, including Connecticut on Wednesday, January 25 and Cincinnati on Saturday, January 28. Last season, SU lost at UConn, 82-47, but won at Cincinnati, 55-53.
SU travels to Providence on Tuesday, January 31 before returning home to host USF on Saturday, February 4 and Notre Dame on Tuesday, February 7. Alexander netted 18 points and added six boards and five blocks to lead Syracuse to a 63-47 victory against Providence. The Orange also defeated the Bulls, 78-57, behind Alexander's 17 points. The Fightin' Irish handed Syracuse a 71-48 setback in South Bend.
The Orange hits the road again when it travels to Louisville on Saturday, February 11. Morrow scored 17 points to lead SU to a 53-45 win against the Cardinals last season in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse hosts Marquette on Saturday, February 18. The BIG EAST Network/SNY will carry the game live at 1 p.m.
SU then travels to DePaul on Tuesday, February 21 before returning home for its final regular-season home game of the year against Georgetown on Saturday, February 25. The Orange makes its second appearance on CBSSN when it faces DePaul at 9 p.m. ET.
Rounding out the BIG EAST Schedule is a trip to Philadelphia for a battle with Villanova on Monday, February 27. Syracuse recorded a decisive 70-49 victory versus the Wildcats last season.
All BIG EAST Syracuse home games will be played in the Carrier Dome. Game times are tentative and subject to change.
All 16 teams are invited to battle for the conference's automatic NCAA Tournament bid at the 2011-12 BIG EAST Championship at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., March 2-6.
