SU Skates 12 To CHA All-Academic Team

SYRACUSE - Twelve Syracuse ice hockey student-athletes have been named to the College Hockey America (CHA) All-Academic Team, Commissioner Robert DeGregorio announced on Thursday.
Kallie Billadeau, Holly Carrie-Mattimoe, Nicole Ferrara, Jacquie Greco, Cara Johnson, Stephanie Jones, Julie Knerr, Brittney Krebs, Taylor Metcalfe, Lisa Mullan, Margot Scharfe and Megan Skelly all represent the Paul Flanagan's Orange on the 54-woman list of honorees.
Scharfe, a sophomore and the Orange's assists leader last season, receives her fourth CHA post-season honor. The Toronto native also won the conference's Individual Sportsmanship Award and Co-Best Defensive Forward Award in addition to being named second-team All-Conference.
The All-Academic honor is Ferrara's second CHA award. The freshman forward from Winthrop, Mass. was named to the All-Rookie Team.
2011-12 marks back-to-back All-Academic honors for eight of the 12 Orange named to the team: Billadeau, Greco, Johnson, Jones, Krebs, Mullan, Scharfe and Skelly.
To qualify for the College Hockey America All-Academic Team an individual must post a 3.0 grade point average or higher in all of the academic periods during which his team was actively competing.
