Dutch U18 Team Goes 3-0 In Pool Play

BUCHAREST, Romania - The Netherlands Under-18 Women's National Team, with Syracuse women's basketball head coach Quentin Hillsman on its staff, completed a 3-0 sweep of pool play at the FIBA U18 European Championship in Bucharest, Romania and has advanced to the second round of the 16-team tournament which features the top young players in all of Europe.
After its opening win vs. Croatia (51-43), the Dutch defeated the Slovak Republic (63-47) on Friday and the Czech Republic (61-51) on Saturday to go to undefeated for the first time ever in first-round play and win Group C.
Hillsman and the Netherlands advance to Group F where they will open against Slovenia on Monday at 11 a.m. Eastern. After that, they will face Serbia on Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET and Italy on Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. ET before match-ups are determined by record beginning on Thursday.
Hillsman is serving as an assistant on the Netherlands coaching staff for the second-straight summer. The Dutch are looking to improve on a fifth-place finish at last year's U18 European Championship.
